COMMISSIONS
FAQ
How long does a commission take to complete?
Timelines vary based on size, complexity, and my current schedule. On average, a commission takes 4–8 weeks from the start of painting. A more accurate estimation is provided during the consultation.
Can I request changes after seeing the sketch or final painting?
Yes — minor revisions can be made after the sketch stage. Once painting begins, small adjustments are possible, but major changes may incur additional fees depending on the stage of completion.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes, I’m happy to offer payment plans beyond the standard 50% deposit and 50% final payment. Just mention it during our consultation and we can arrange something that works for you.
What is a Rights Buyout Fee?
By default, I retain the rights to reproduce commissioned artworks — meaning I may use the image for prints, my portfolio, or promotional content.
If you’d prefer your commissioned piece to remain exclusive and private, you have the option to purchase full image rights through a Rights Buyout Fee. This ensures the artwork will never be reproduced or used publicly — it becomes 100% yours, both physically and visually.
The fee ranges from 30–100% of the original price, depending on factors like:
• The size and complexity of the artwork
• The likelihood of print success
• Whether you're a private collector or a business
• My current market demand
Examples:
- For a $3,000 CAD commission, a rights buyout fee of $1,000–$2,000 CAD is typical.
- For high-profile or highly detailed pieces, the buyout fee may be 50–100% of the original price.
Can I cancel a commission once it’s started?
Cancellations are permitted only if the painting is less than 70% complete. Please note that the initial 50% deposit is non-refundable, as it covers the time, planning, and materials invested up to that point.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes — I offer tracked and insured global shipping. Rates vary depending on destination, and I’ll provide a shipping estimate upon the consultation.
Will you share or post my commissioned artwork online?
Yes, I often share completed commissions as part of my portfolio or social media. If you prefer to keep your piece private, please let me know during our consultation.
How do I know the final artwork will match my vision?
We’ll work closely together during the consultation and sketch phase to align on the concept. My goal is always to create something meaningful that resonates with your story and aesthetic.
